MINERALS WEALTH UNVEILED IN KAPCHORWA, KWEEN, AND BULAMBULI
In a significant boost to the region's economic prospects, the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Development has granted a four-year license to Greenfire Minerals Ltd to explore a wide range of minerals in Kapchorwa, Kween, and Bulambuli districts.
The licensed exploration area is believed to be rich in minerals such as dimension stone, dolomite, gold, lead, limestone, phosphate, platinum, pozzolana, rare earth elements, silica/glass sand, silver, and zinc. According to an aerial survey, these minerals are expected to be found in significant quantities, promising a potential bonanza for the local communities.
During a meeting with local leaders and residents, the Director of Greenfire Minerals Ltd, Mr. Jamil Kusiime, assured the communities that the geophysical survey would be conducted with utmost care, ensuring minimal environmental impact. He emphasized that the exploration would only involve sampling, which would guide the government in determining the quantity of minerals underground and inform investment decisions.
The Resident District Commissioner for Kween, Mrs. Atuhaire Hope, welcomed the investment, emphasizing the importance of transparency and cooperation between the company and local communities. ".We want to ensure that our people benefit from this venture, and we will work closely with Greenfire Minerals Ltd to achieve this goal," she said.
The development aligns with the government's efforts to harness the country's mineral wealth to create wealth and prosperity for all Ugandans. The presence of minerals in the region is expected to attract investment, create jobs, and improve livelihoods.
Local leaders, including Chief Administrative Officers, GISOs, LCIIIs, and LCIIs from the affected areas, attended the meeting, expressing their enthusiasm for the project. With the potential for mineral wealth to transform the region's economy, the communities are eagerly awaiting the outcome of the exploration.
As the exploration begins, the people of Kapchorwa, Kween, and Bulambuli are hopeful that the mineral resources will bring about a new era of economic growth and development.
